Los Angeles, CA native, Marquita De Jesus, studied dance at Sam Houston State University where she started her first dance company, produced two shows, and performed in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Marquita moved to North Texas in 2005, completed her Masters in Fine Arts, and began traveling with her choreography to festivals, trips and workshops all over the world.

In 2009, Marquita was approached by Lori Boldt at The Dance Movement in Plano, TX to start a new youth dance company that would become Fusion. Today, nearly 50 Fusion dancers train weekly with Marquita, and perform and compete locally and nationally. In ten years, Fusion has also been able to raise over $140k for local, national and international charities and advocacy organizations. Additionally, Fusion alumni have been awarded scholarships, awards of distinction, and accepted into universities, prestigious summer intensives, universities and dance programs including SMU, TCU, Belhaven University, UTAustin, UNT, OCU, OSU, Tulsa Ballet Intensive, Joffrey Ballet Intensive, Complexions, Dallas Maverick Dance Team, and BTWHSPVA.

De Jesus is also the owner of LOMA Yogabody Studio in Historic Mckinney as well as an Associate Professor in Dance with Collin College and El Centro College in Downtown Dallas.

In 2014, Marquita published her first book "Radically Ordinary", and shared her work in dance advocacy on the infamous TEDX platform in 2016. When Marquita isn't writing, speaking or dancing, you can find her teaching yoga, gardening, and performing at home with her two favorite dancers, Emmy Ana and Elle Ava, who are also Fusion Company Dancers. This is her 12th year at TDM and her 10th year as the Company Director for Fusion.
